Thank god that high school is coming to a close this year. I’m finally a senior. Im ready to move on to bigger and better things in life.
I’m worried about costings as a 2011 college student…
It’s Def. better than a 00 dorm room in some 80 foot high rise on the 65 level…haha.
I’m looking for something really nice and simplistic, but not too over the top as I need to stay in reasonable budget. perhaps a nice studio or a 1-2 bedroom apartment with a nice kitchen(Future pastry chef/culinary college student). Haha.
I am in the process of saving money for the remaining 2010 year and the 2011 year as well.
Living alone is perfect for me to branch out, and say away from the typical "college student" scene.
Can someone help me out on pros and cons, and costings…ect?
Thanks so friggen much!
I live in Chicago, and naturally my first choice would have been Le Cordon Bleu, but i do not want to attend a school that specializes in just cooking. I am looking for a university that does have a major, or a minor in culinary arts, but also has other options. I do not need to stay in state (Illinois). But is it hard to find a school that has Culinary Arts, alongside other non-artsy majors and minors.
Are there any schools like the one I’m looking for? please help me..
Jobs range from Chicago to South Holland And Has Worked As A CNA and Caregiver But needs A higher paying job I also Am working on my degree for culinary school
Words cannot explain how excited I am to end high school. SE110RS! There are so many douche lords, and rude ignorant people, that I just cannot live in that environment. The field I am interested in is Baking and Pastry Arts. And I mean come on. Pastry Chefs always get the last say. Sure, you can eat a nice steak an potato dinner, but how about ending off that meal with a warm dark chocolate lava cake, oozing a smooth milk chocolate sauce, covered by a rich, decadent caramel sauce, and parted along side a cold french vanilla bean ice cream scoop…? Incredibly delicious… I have so much drive and passion for this I can just taste it at the tip of my tongue. I even run my own cake making business at home, and its an amazing experience! Being blessed with such a talent, and being able to cook and bring joy to people….love it. My goal is to eventually open up an upscale cafe/bakery bistro/cake shop. But the thing is most schools only offer Associates in Pastry Arts, and I want to get more out of this than just a measly A.S. degree. So you experienced chefs out there, whats your recommendation. I REALLY want my main focus to be on pastry arts….And I only am based im Chicago, so going out of state is a no go….too expensive for our budget. I mean, do I get a bachelors in business and hosp. management…or go full out culinary…im at a loss.
THANKS SO MUCH
best answer for sure for a through detailed one!

Wat are the best culinary schools to attend 2 after high school? I’m looking into chicago area or North Carolina areas mainly but open to other options depending on how good the school is…
Actually yes CIA is my dream school but if i were to go i would go to the one in greystone, CA, but the problem is its too far and it costs a lot but who knows im def. not gonna give up on it tho bc i would love to go there!!!
Actually i was looking at johnson wales too bc they came to my school in my culinary class and another reason s bc there is a campus in north carolina..
Basically I can sense my future. AND I CANNOT WAIT FOR HIGH SCHOOL TO END. Long story short, I am completely dedicated to Baking and Pastry Arts…I even run my own cake business from at home…at 17! In the future I hope to own an upscale, chic bakery bistro where everyone can enjoy delicious pastries and various cakes. Even have a combo of a cake making business way down the road. Thing is……..most schools here in Chicago only offer Associates Degrees in Patisserie and Baking…I want to get more out of it so I want to achieve to get my Bachelors degree. But im not sure. I was thinking Business, with a combo of my associates in baking and pastry? Any other good ideas?
Good schools to offer?
?
Robert Morris, Kendall, Art institute of chicago, or Le cordon Bleu…?
Thanks!!!!!
I cant study abroad…too expensive. Nor go out of state. Hence I’m staying in IL
The question pretty much asks it all. I live in Indiana but Im moving to Chicago to attend culinary school. So Im not sure about what the average waitress earns a day (with tips) and if you could afford an apartment (and the basics) on that salary. (0-0 rent)
I do have a car but if anything happens I can always take the EL train.
I dont know about car insurance but ive never been in a wreck and i’ve had my license for 3 years.
I own my car, no payments.
And i have no credit cards aka no debt.
